Harris Health System is honored to receive more than $20 million in grant funding each year in support of its mission to care for those most in need in Harris County.
Harris Health's grant development team works diligently to secure available funds from federal, state, local and private resources and agencies.
The impact of these programs and services in our community is vital and far-reaching. Thanks to grant-funded initiatives, Harris Health:- Prevents workforce violence against nurses
- Provides case management and telehealth services to patients with hypertension
- Supports families with premature babies throughout their hospitalized stay
- Offers multidisciplinary care to pregnant women and new mothers with opioid use disorder
- Helps navigate 1,500 patients this year from cancer diagnosis to treatment at its comprehensive cancer center
- Offers individuals with opioid use disorder office-based addiction treatment in an outpatient setting
- Provides 3,500 mammograms and cervical cancer screenings annually to women who would otherwise not have access
- Trains 15 registered nurses, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners (SANEs), each year to address the needs of sexual assault victims and survivors
- Provides a medical home for community members experiencing homelessness through its Healthcare for the Homeless Program
- Serves patients with HIV/AIDS through a Ryan White grant in one of the nation's first dedicated HIV/AIDS facilities
Harris Health's Office of Research and its medical school partners at Baylor College of Medicine and McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston also contribute to the successes of the grant program.
