Survivorship Program

Harris Health's Survivorship Program consists of resources that have been designed to meet the needs of cancer survivors. While there are numerous resources for survivors to benefit from, there are three specific services for survivors:
  • Oncology Support Group Art Therapy
    • Harris Health LBJ Hospital
    • Harris Health Smith Clinic
  • Culinary Medicine Class for survivors (English, Spanish, Vietnamese)
  • Oncology Survivorship Rehabilitation
Oncology support group is hosted by Harris Health's Cancer Resource Center (CRC). The monthly Art Therapy Support Group is for peer support and social interactions.  Speakers are invited periodically for patient education and support. The class is held at both Outpatient Center at LBJ Hospital and Smith clinic. Appointments are required. To register, call 713-566-3508.

The Culinary Medicine Class for Survivors is a collaboration with nutrition services and internal medicine. This program is designed to provide survivors with culinary skills for preparing healthy meals, knowledge of healthy recipes and portion control. This three-class series provides hands-on practice in a teaching kitchen. To register or get more information, call 713-566-3508.

After receiving treatment, survivors may experience difficulty with physical activity, skills of daily living, and/or difficulty with speech or swallowing. Our rehabilitation team works with survivors to improve their physical health, manage impairments and reach desirable outcomes. Based on survivor’s need, a referral to this service can be obtained from their provider.
